Of spams and scams
Of Spams and Scams It comes by email, phone, fax, and postal mail- information about being a beneficiary of a huge sum of money, so I must act quickly. Or it could be an all expense paid trip to some wonderful resort. Sometimes it is information that I am the lucky winner of a million dollar lottery. Sometimes it is about a huge IRS refund. But first, I must send my social security number and bank information to expedite the IRS refund or I just have to send a cashier's check for the processing fee for the lottery or the unclaimed money waiting for me in the bank. Of course, the larger the sum coming to me, the bigger the processing fee. Much as I want to have these thousands or millions of dollars as the next person, I know enough that I cannot have something for nothing and greed would only cause me more grief. Alas, I am one of those destined to work for my keep. Unfortunately, many gullible men and women are being taken, often giving up hard earned dollars or painstakingly saved retirement money. And give them a few hundred dollars and they come back for thousands. They (whoever they may be) prey upon the old and not so old. And there is no recourse. The international domicile of these perpetrators make tracing and identifying them almost impossible let alone prosecuting them. And recouping the loss,impossible. Beware, beware. If it's too good to be true... |
