What Is Sexy?

By Nora Quiason

I remember earlier times when less was more and sexy invoked a titillating promise of possibilities. When ads display handsome men and women scantily clad and considered sexy, those who do not fit the hype might be hard pressed to consider themselves sexy.

Jane Russell was a poster girl for sexy when all she bared was cleavage. In Victorian times when women wore layers of clothing, displaying an ankle might have been considered sexy; women hiding behind their fans and letting their eyes speak, or giggling young women may have been sexy. Men displaying brawn may have been sexy. Men gently caressing their beloved's face or helping them out of a car or just looking at their woman with caring. These are sexy. Men and women loyal to their promise of fidelity are sexy.

Sexy is a loving glance, a caring gesture, a hint of more to come. Loving is sexy.

Sexy is in the eye of the beholder. I'm sure you'll have a lot of customers.

This is something rarely thought of and considered by either sex. No wonder many things work but never have been thought of and considered. Great in-depth article! My kudos!

Thank you. Often we are bombarded with stimuli from media, we forget the wonder of smelling the leaves after the rain or the tune of a song we once shared with someone.

Well said, Nora. To me, physical nudity is sexual harassment while appropriate dress sense and good mannerism make a woman sexy. Thanks.

Thank you. I try to tell my nieces and nephews to leave some for the imagination.
